We will be on the island one week from right now. I'm so very excited. We have no plans, just some ideas of things we would like to do. We stopped doing touristy stuff several years ago, but now that our son is older, we may want to re-think it. He's no longer easily entertained with a day at the beach. Hell, he'd be happy if we left him alone in the condo with his electronics and unlimited wi-fi. But that's not happening on my watch.
We haven't been to the Black Sand Beach yet, so we may go there. We're also looking into horseback riding down in Waipio Valley. I'd like to hike down there (we've done it 3 times), but my husband thinks we're too old (out of shape) and that we'll suffer afterwards. I'm also looking into parasailing. We did that once while on our honeymoon in St. Thomas and it was fun. It looks like a company in Kona can even have all 3 of us go up at the same time.
I'm sure no matter what we end up doing (or not doing), we'll have a great time as usual. Can't wait to step off that airplane, smell the island air, and be "home."

I read about that a few years ago and totally forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder.

Flumin' Da Ditch closed after the big earthquake several years ago. It was recently resurrected as Flumin' Kohala by another company. http://fluminkohala.com/
